Lead climbing course Peak District

Learning to lead climb whilst placing traditional protection or sport climbing is a crucial stage in any climbers career and a fundamental time to choose professional tuition. Whether you are a beginner wanting to progress to sport climbing or traditional leading, an experienced climber returning after a break, or an instructor needing help to gain their Rock Climbing Instructor award our aim is to assist your progression to safe, independent lead climbing.

These courses are usually delivered in the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales.

A one to two instructor student ratio will allow us to tailor the course to your specific needs. We can then match your aspirations and skill level in order to develop your confidence safely.

The course will cover:

  • lead climbing

  • coaching movement skills

  • gear placement

  • anchor selection

  • abseiling and rescues

  • guidebooks and grades

  • equipment checks, fall factors and avoiding personal injury

At the end of the two days you will have successfully completed a number of routes and should feel very confident in your own ability to venture out yourselves. The cost £200 per day for one to one tuition and £240 per day for 2 people split between them (£120 each). We would provide all the ropes and climbing equipment (cams, nuts wires hexs slings etc). You would just need to provide your personal equipment, shoes, harness, chalkbag etc though we have a small supply of these items as well. Contact us for more details.

The BMC booklet on climbing outside can be downloaded here and contains a wealth of information.

Please read this before the course as it will help you progress quicker at leading and expand your knowledge. Also check out the pictures of us in it!
